2014 Reserve Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
This a wine that can only be described as a ‘win-win’. If you are a purist, then you will see in this the traditions of great Australian Claret, and a blend that we can rightly call our own. If you are new to MSV, or indeed the Barossa, then you are about to be schooled in what the Western Ridge can bring to sub-regional expression. Power and weight for sure, but all delivered with a deft and measured hand.
2018 Halliday Wine Companion – 97 points, August 2017
Stands apart from its two ’14 Reserve siblings with a firmer palate introducing blackcurrant into the other black fruits. It seems lower in alcohol than 14.5% (no bad thing, of course). This blend also has the medium-bodied freshness of the Shiraz Mataro.
Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front– 94 Points, November 2016
67% Shiraz, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon
The is a luxuriant wine, but it is not just about hedonism, it is also about complexity. More important than what you match this wine with - and we think you are surely in the range of robust, red meat - the most important flavour will be that of the wine… So, please make sure you decant this and give it a few hours before serving.
