The history of these varieties has its foundations in the Old World of winemaking and only now are they recognised as ‘new varieties’ for Australia. Murray Street Vineyards’ planted the largest block of Viognier and Marsanne in the Barossa at the Gomersal vineyard in a spot called the ‘amphitheatre’ after the sweeping slope it grows on. This is a wine that relies on Mother Nature to roll out an optimal growing season to reflect the austerity of this blend. |
