MSV Awarded "Most Successful Australian Exhibitor"

We are thrilled to report that at the recent Decanter World Wine Awards in London, Murray Street Vineyards was declared the "Most Successful Australian Exhibitor."

As you know, Murray Street is a small artisan winery in Greenock in the beautiful Barossa. Our first release was in 2004 and since then the accolades have been steadily growing. In 2007 we built a state of the art small batch winery, supporting our traditional winemaking methods with modern surrounds.

Andrew Seppelt, co-director and winemaker, was elated to hear the news. "Recognition like this is icing on the cake for us. We know the wine is good, but being recognised in an international arena means a lot.

"I'm particularly excited that 2 of the Gold medals were awarded to our 'Benno' and 'Sophia' wines which I named as a tribute to the first Seppelt settlers in the Barossa. Their hard work and passion not only made their dreams a reality but also were instrumental in establishing the wine industry in Australia. As the sixth generation of the Seppelt family, I can certainly say I have 'wine in my blood.'

With a total of 7 entries, we received three gold medals and two bronze medals.
Murray Street's 2006 Benno Shiraz Mataro and 2006 Sophia Shiraz were joined in the Decanter Gold Medal tally by their 2007 Gomersal Shiraz.

Bronze went to 2007 Greenock and the 2007 The Barossa, a blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro & Cinsaut.

The Murray Street Vineyards range also includes 2009 Viognier Marsanne and 2006 VP Shiraz.

We all know that the Barossa is a great wine region – its ancient soils, abundant sunshine and cold winters are ideal conditions for making robust red wines, full of flavour. "Its rich viticultural history adds another layer to the mix – I like to call it a sense of grace...," Andrew added. "I wouldn't be anywhere else."
