Further Mataro and Durif plantings in beginning in 2002 Year established 1948 and 1998 Size in hectare/acres: Total property is 13 hectares Varieties: Shiraz, Mataro, Grenache, Semillon and Durif Irrigation: A traditional dry grown vineyard however irrigation to Semillon established in 2007 due to lowering of annual rainfall Rainfall: 500mm/year Soil types: Light clay loam to medium clay loam over medium clay Aspect: The property is on slightly undulating ground with a water course (dry) through the middle of the block. All trellised vines run in an East/West direction with the exception of Mataro planted along contour lines Management practices: Minimal intervention occurs with the entire vineyard mulched (completed in 2008) and a permanent mid row sward of native grasses is encouraged Climate Temperate: climate Winter daily average of maximum of 13.9° and minimum of 4.8° Summer daily average minimum of 13.1° and maximum of 27.9° |
